Early Childhood Music Programs

Our Early Child Music Education Program consists of our expert teachers conducting classes at Childhood Centers, Day Care centers and Preschools.  Special occasion music classes and master classes for teacher professional development classes are also available.

Prelude Music Academy offers a comprehensive, sequential plan for musical development for children from birth – 6. Class time is educational, fun and purposeful.  Programs are based on meeting the development needs of children as they grow.

Music class is geared towards the child’s self-discovery of the elements that surround them through sounds, movement and singing. Using the structure of children’s songs and stories, together with the exploration of classroom instruments and movement/dance to build and achieve successful learning.

Using these experiences sequentially to build on the fundamental musical concepts achieved, making successful learning easier. We incorporate classroom goals and objectives to support a holistic learning program.

Prelude Music for Babies – Newborn to 18 months, an introduction into the world of sounds and musical play activities to:

  • Establish a foundation for singing and musical thought
  • Increase the child’s curiosity about music
  • Develop a sense of beat and listening skills
  • Exploring sounds through musical percussive instruments that are incorporated into the lesson’s activities

Prelude Music for Toddlers – 15 months – 3 years, a well-rounded music curriculum using age-appropriate musical play activities that focuses on singing, chanting, moving, dancing, listening, and playing simple instruments.  We take the child on a journey around the world and through the seasons by using children’s songs to:

  • Bridge the natural connections between singing, music and movement
  • Enhance musical aptitude and listening abilities
  • Lay the foundation for singing and vocal development
  • Discovering the world of literature through setting stories to music

The program includes movement activities for coordination, body awareness, exploration of space, body control, and pure joy of music. Traditional children and folk songs will be used for singing, dancing, and listening. Focused listening activities from daily life and musical instruments to make the connection and bring awareness of the natural rhythm of the world around them. Incorporating instruments into activities that include rhythm sticks, jingles, rattles, drums, and resonator bells.

Prelude Pre-K Music –  4-5 years, Music classes focus on a variety of material such as musical games that support the Pre-K curriculum.  Highlighting songs that focus on counting, body parts, sight words, and exploring literature through stories, days of the week, holidays, teamwork, and friendship, are just a few ways music enables the child to build and reinforce these important life skills.

Students learn fundamental music concepts, participate in creative movement and dance, play instruments, sing, develop aural skills, appreciate classic masterpieces and famous composers, make music-related crafts, explore orchestral instruments, learn music symbols, notation, forms, and styles of music and explore multicultural music.
